I created a tab delimited textfile in a vb.net app. I was then able to read
the contents of this textfile from the vb.net app and write the contents to a
sql2000 DB. I was also able to import the contents of this textfile to the
same sql2000 DB using the sql2000 Import wizard. However, when I used the
sql2005 Import wizard for this same textfile I got an error message that it
had some kind of problem with the textfile and was truncating something.
But the sql2005 import wizard did work on other textfiles I created with the
same vb.net app.
The issue is that someone is going to be this one particular textfile which
gets its data from a sql2000 DB. This person has a sql2005 management
console and is not a programmer/developer/administrator...
Are there any known issues with the sql2005 import/export wizard? Or is
there something I could do to the textfile so that the sql2005 Import wizard
does not complain? Maybe a custom delimiter?
I also observed that the sql2000 Import wizard has an option (other) for a
custom column delimiter but I don't see this option in the sql2005 Import
wizard. Is there a way to get a custom column delimeter for the sql2005
Import wizard to use?
Any advice appreciated.
