Hi,

please check what is happening on line 286 of latenews.cs.
One of the involved variables are null. Check which and then check why.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Line 286 is this

//Error check for null Channel
if(objNavChannel.Equals(null))//Line 286
{
return table; //Early return
}
So it is null and cannot return the table??

i Choi,

if submit is visible the item has not been approved by an editor.
Otherwise the submit option would not be available.
What is that state of the posting? It seems not to be "Waiting for Moderator
approval".

Cheers,
Stefan.

hoi,

You cannot test for something being null in this way, because if it is null,
the Equals() method will not be available... and you get a
NullReferenceException, which is exactly what you are trying to avoid!

You should use if(objNavChannel == null).

Try this code to see what I mean:

string test = null;
try
{
if(test.Equals(null)) Response.Write("Equals() works!!<br>");
}
catch
{
Response.Write("Equals() does not work<br>");
}
try
{
if(test == null) Response.Write("== works!!<br>");
}
catch
{
Response.Write("== does not work<br>");
}

.I just try a create a new page "TEST" by an author, then status is "SAVED"
after I press save and Exit.
2. Status " Waiting for Editor Approval" after I click Submit by Author.
3. Logout anf Login as Editor, In approval Assistant, I find the page
"TEST", edit it's page properties, and then submit. Status is " Waiting for
Editor Approval" again, shouldn't it be Waiting for Moderator approval?

I can use Moderator to login to this page and see it but I cannot approve
it, I see submit there, after I press submit, still " Waiting for Editor
Approval" .

So what's wrong with it?

i Choihead,

it depends which properties you edited.
Some properties are required to be approved by editors and some by
moderators.

The custom properties (e.g.) and the description property require editor
approval.

Cheers,
Stefan.

i Stefan,

I edited the Publish Date in the Page Properties,
Actually, what I wanna do is, to make it a 2 level approval without change
the workflow. And I thought I could do like:
Author -->Save--->Editor--> Submit--->Moderator--->Approve
or
Author--->Submit-->Editor-->Submit-->Moderator-->Approve
so then I just need to educate the user which routine they should follow

i Choi,

an editor will approve and not submit.
The publish date requires moderator approval and not editor approval.
So this would work.
But the editor still has to approve the posting to move it up to the
moderators.

Cheers,
Stefan.

i Choi,

actually the problem is that some properties are stored in the page object
and some in the posting object.
People with CMS 2001 experience will know the details on this.
The page object is approved by editors and the posting object by moderators.

The following properties require editor approval:

- custom properties
- description.

The following properties require moderator approval

- start date
- expiration date
- important flag
- hide when published flag
- robots can index
- robots can follow
- display name

The following property requires both moderator and editor approval:

- name

Cheers,
Stefan

I'm using a standard edition of CMS 2002 and there is a limit of 15 non
subscriber users.
If i add the same user to admin and the editor groups, would this be
considered as two users or a single user?
