Custom Page Properties

Hello

Is it possible to set the dropdown menu in default page propertie to false?
It now says true but users want it to be false so they can edit it right away.

Greetings Xavier

Custom Page Properties

Hi Xavier,

this drop down is a propery of the CustomProperty object.
It is set based on the return of the UsesDefaultValue property.

If it is false it can be reset to True by calling the ResetToDefault method
of the custom property object.

If this drop down would be set to False in your dialog this would mean that
the current content of the custom property defintion will be copied to the
posting on creation time. This would mean that a change in the custom
property definiton can no longer be reflected in the posting.
In addition this would cause addition storage to be needed as the custom
property needs to be copied into the posting.

I would not recommend to do this.

Anyway: To achieve this I would suggest to create a CmsPosting_Created event
handler and copy the value to the property again.
This will achieve what you are looking for.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Custom Page Properties

I see a tab called Custom on any of my MCMS pages but there is no option to
create , edit or delete. How do I go about creating custom page properties?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,

you need to define this on the template - similar to placeholder
definitions.
Then you are able to assign values on this dialog.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Tom,

just open the template in MCMS Template explorer in VS.NET. You will find
the custom property collection right beside the placeholder collection.
Here you can define the new custom property.

Cheers,
Stefan

> Can you provide me with an example?

1. In Visual Studio solution go to MCMS Template Explorer tab.
2. Right-click on a template and select Check Out.
3. In the Properties window locate CustomPropertyDefinitions.
4. Click on "..." button next to (Collection).
5. In the editor window define new property.
6. Check In the template.
