Setting Language for external content source in Sharepoint

Hi

I need to index an external content source in sharepoint.
The external content sources can be in different languages
(english, french, spanish).
How will sharepoint figure out that the content of a page
is english/spanish/french so that it can apply the
specified languages' word breakers ?

Do we have to set any meta tag and do some mapping in
Sharepoint for this to happen ?

How do you verify the same ?
