HTML links to entities in workflow emails (CRM 4.0)

Post by SmVubn » Tue, 26 Aug 2008 22:20:02

Hi CRM-ers!

I would really like to include the link to an entity (opportunity) into an
email sent by a workflow. But somehow, CRM 4 ignores the HTML format and
sends the link as non-clickable plain text. Not very useful.

BUT, I noticed that CRM 4 has an email template called "Duplicate Detection
Task Completion Template". When I run a Duplicate detection job, I get an
email with an HTML link to the entity!!! But I can't seem to be able to
reproduce it for other entities...

Could anyone enlight me on this?

Thanks!

Since the accountid field is not exposed in workflow, you will have to create
a custom field in which you can save the accountid. Now you can use this
field in the the workflow something like this to send the link.

http://crm/sfa/accts/edit.aspx?id=customfield

Hi SS,

Thaks for your reply. Unfortunately, all this is already done. I have a
field that holds the entire URL to the entity.

The problem is when I try to send the value of that field in an email
through a workflow. The http... shows as plain text, not as hyperlink.

Any idea?

I am at the same point. I have my url in a custom attribute, have it in an
email but it is plain text. I have verified that the link works by cutting
and pasting into a browser.
