CRM v3 - workflow and wait for timer

I would like to create a workflow that uses the wait for timer condition with
an appointment. I would like to create an activity to call the client 3 days
before the scheduled appointment. It does not appear that I can do this.
When I click on the Before condition for the Appointment entity, the only
field that is available for selection is Created On.

Is there a way to create this task 3 days before the scheduled appointment?
