For IFD deployment how do I change the 'name' for DNS purposes

I have CRM 4.0 running and am now using the IFD config tool to convert it to
an IFD deployment. The IFD tool is automatically prepending the 'name' to
the "IFD App root domain".

When I installed CRM, I specified the name to be our company name, so it
wants a DNS record of mycompanyname.mycompanyname.com. I want it to be
crm.mycompanyname.com

So I went into the CRM deployment manager, stopped the organization, edited
it, but it would only let me change the 'display name' rather than the
'name'. I did that anyway, but it made no difference. How do I either
a) change the name or
b) have this thing working on a more friendly DNS name or
c) does it really matter? I can set up two CNAMEs if it doesn't matter.

Hi,

Just create a DNS record for mycompanyname.mycompanyname.com and then a
CNAME for crm.mycompanyname.com.

robroth,
Did you resolve this issue yet. If I understood your issue correctly,
adding a CNAME won't fix the problem. You are trying to change the unique
organization name. The best way to do this is to detach the
mycompanyname_mscrm database in SQL, make copies and rename the .mdf and .ldf
files, reattach them as crm_mscrm, then import the organization using CRM
Deployment Manager.
