Crm connector External connection cannot authenticate.

I can access the crm via ie both internally and externally.
The outlook client connects internally ok but when using it remotly outlook
logs in successfully and then prompts for the crm username and password - but
when hitting ok comes up with this error :-

Cannot connect to microsoft dynamics crm server because we cannot
authenticate your credentials.....

Help !!

external page is in the form of https://crmorg.domainname.co.uk:446
internal http://server:5555

Reporting isn't working externally either via the web interface - but have
not looked in to this yet.

Thanks for any shed of light you guys can provide !

Are you using 3.0 or 4.0?

With 4.0, you need an IFD deployment to do this. With 3.0, there is no easy
way. The outlook add-in requires a VPN in order to authenticate properly.

Crm connector External connection cannot authenticate.

Sorry I should have mentioned I'm running version 4 (Recently upgrade from
3). I have used the IFD tool and the website when accessed remotly is
giving me the crm login page rather than the usual username popup box as it
did in three. All seems to work other than the reports via this method.

The only thing is the outlook connector working internally but not
externally.
During ifd tool I'm a little confused with the dns name space as currently
running orgname.domainname.co.uk.
I read somewhere I need to setup to subdomains one for
orgname.servername.domainname.co.uk and the other
servername.domainname.co.uk is this correct ??

Thanks for helping me I'm baffled at this stage !

From what I understand you need tospecify the external address for the
outlook add-in so that it knows how to find the server when outside the
firewall.
