CRM 3.0 - Using Production DB Backup to CRM 3.0 Test Environme

Hi,

I don't recommend to install your CRM test environment on the same AD, this
is not a safe way to test the application. I recommend to set up a separated
test environment (using Microsoft Virtual Server) on a different AD, then
"copy" the production CRM deplyoment to the test environment. You have to use
Redeployment Wizard to convert the databases.

CRM 3.0 - Using Production DB Backup to CRM 3.0 Test Environme

Hi,

I am attempting to do set up a test environment using Virtual Server as
well. I am at the point where I am installing SRS and have copies of
the CRM database. I just can not find good documentation on this whole
process!

What do you mean by "copy" the production CRM deployment to the test
environment?

Do I just get the ISV.config and reports.config files? I am sure there
is a lot more to do than that.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

irst you have to use the repeloyment tool export function on your production
environment. Back up the databases, then attach them on the test
environment. Prepare the AD on the test environment if necessary (create
users, CRM OU
) Run the redeployment tool on the test server, and import the files created
by the tool on production environment (you may need to map CRM users). The
redeplomyment tool converts the databases on your test system. Then run CRM
setup, and choose option "connect to existing databases"
