DCOM Server DefaultLaunchPermssion

DCOM Server DefaultLaunchPermssion

Post by S0xvbWF » Wed, 18 May 2005 06:28:03

I have created a VB.NET Service that does some processing and then archives
files on another computer in our Domain. The service is running under a
Domain User Account that is an administrator on the local computer and has
sufficient privileges on the remote computer. When the following code is
executed, I get a rather non-descript error "Could not find a part of the
path."

== Code Block =====
Dim AdcsDir As DirectoryInfo
AdcsDir = New DirectoryInfo(Target)
AdcsDir.CreateSubdirectory(DirName)
===================

I looked in the system event log and found the UserID is generating an
Access Denied message.
== Error Msg ======
Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server using
DefaultLaunchPermssion.
The server is: {73A4C9C1-D68D-11D0-98BF-00A0C99998D9}
The user is MyUser/MyDomain,
SID=S-1-5-21-1803440956-1098453177-1831341646-1755.
===================
The computer the service is running on is Win2K, and the target machine is
NT4. When I run the same code in a Windows application no errors are
encountered.

Does anyone have any ideas what rights, privileges, or configuration need to
be fixed?

Thanks,
KL

1. 10009 DCOM error: server trying to communicate with ISP DNS server using DCOM

2. DCOM error, the server did not register with dcom

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

I've got a machine here and in the event viewer it comes up with error 10010, The server {7F6316B4-4D69-4765-B0A3-B2598F2FA80A} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

What server would {7F6316B4-4D69-4765-B0A3-B2598F2FA80A} be?

And what to do to get rid of this DCOM error?

Thanks,

Gordon
