Hi Danny,

Don't use a limited user account while attempting to
install Zone software. XP will fail to register it. :-)

| that's the error I get, I have spent about 3 hours now deleting and

Are you using the administrator account, or are you a power user? If
not, try this:

Open regedt32, give full rights in security to
HKLM/software/Microsoft/Internet *** Zone to your user.

To give the Zone a new start on your computer, try the following:

A. Save the Zone's Favorites folder to a different folder so it won't be
lost.

B. Run the Zone_Dat program to remove the path to the Zone.
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

C. Remove Heartbeat.
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

D. 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click MSN *** Zone, and then
click Add/Remove.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove MSN *** Zone.

5. Remove the MSN *** Zone Heartbeat ActiveX control or plug-in.
http://www.yqcomputer.com/
save to your desktop. Double-click the utility. You can right-click
and edit to see what it does first, if you prefer.

E. Open Explore, click the Zone folder to highlight and press the Delete
key. Make sure you're being prompted to remove the proper folder before
clicking OK. Reboot so memory will capture the changed registry.

F. Run Regclean to remove all references to the Zone, and Heartbeat.
Sorry I can't suggest one of these over another.. (The only one I've
ever used is the MS version which has been pulled from their site.) You
might read about each and try to find one that does what we're trying to
do. With a backup of your registry, any of these can be tried.

G. Reboot so the updated registry will be in memory.

H. Clear the browser's cache.

I. Try the Zone again.

J. Once it's working, copy your Zone Favorites folder back replacing the
other.
