TROUBLES: upgrading from MSN Messenger 7.5 to Windows Live Messenger

Tried this.

Installed the new Messenger, saw my contacts, the way they are
organized in groups.
Removed the cache files.
Now the contact list became flat.

But no real change.
All contacts show as if they are offline.
At the same time my contacts can send me messages, no problem.
Just the indications for all contacts are - offline.

Proxy or firewalls must be blocking something in the protocol.

Back to Messenger 7.5.
I see all the contacts OK now, some online some offline.
Tried it already a number of times - whenever I upgrade to Windows Live
Messenger,
I do not get the true status of my contacts, I go back to 7.5 and the
status shows OK.

Anyone - any clue?

Me too. Installed the messenger and then all the contacts are gone.
Loaded the web version and they are all there.

Cheers,

Tim

I had the same problem but I renamed (rather than deleting) the folders
suggested above and retarted and everything seems to be working fine.

Cheers,

Tim
