MSN Messenger 6.0 question

MSN Messenger 6.0 question

Post by Joe » Sat, 26 Jul 2003 23:41:37

I downloaded and installed 6.0 and every time I try to access 6.0 I get an
error message and it wants to know if I want to send an error message to
Microsoft. I have Windows XP Professional installed on my PC. Also, I have
Norton System works 2003 and Norton Personal Firewall installed. I have
performed all the updates from MS i.e. Direct X, security updates etc., and
Norton. Do any of you out there have any suggestions on how to get 6.0 to
work? My ISP is cable internet.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Greetings Joe,

When you get the 'do you want to send an error report?' message, click the "click here"
link --
in the next screen, you'll see
something like the following:
szAppName : msnmsgr.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll

If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.

Hi Joe,

So it's crashing in itself -- what if you try 5.0 instead (you'll need to uninstall 6.0
first)?
