MSN freezing at start up

hi, i am experiencing a problem with MSN messenger 6.1: a few days ago, i
wanted to log on to msn messenger, but it kept freezing: i couldnt see all
my online friends nor could i change my status or click anywhere, there was
a little sandglass and it would not stop freezing. i tried to exit the
program and run it again, but it didnt work. i also noticed that in
"process" (ctrl+alt+del) there were like 3 msmsg, and only one msnmsg, that
was too many msmsg!!! might have sth to do with that... so i closed my XP
session and tried again, but same prob. i had to restart my XP session and
comp a few times, which is annoying especially because it was before
school... (i have windows XP) it never did that on my old comp (XP too) but
it started doing it today, and i cant keep restarting that one, because it
takes so long to load... i have never had that problem before. does anyone
know how to fix it?
many thanks ^_______________^

Yup, sounds like Windows Messenger is misbehaving (three instances of msmsgs) and it may be messing with MSN Messenger (msnmsgr).

Try disabling Windows Messenger from loading automatically when Windows starts, and also prevent it from running in the background. These options are located in the Preferences tab

Hi,

What you're describing here has nothing to do Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger. This is
the built-in "Messenger Service" in Windows, which won't affect MSN Messenger in the
slightest.
