OE 6 pasting image from clipboard keeps pasting the first image only

Post by Rober » Fri, 08 Aug 2008 21:52:52

Using XP SP3 and OE 6.00.2900.5512 and word 2000

When copying an image, like a screen shot (alt + print sceen), into MS word
and then copy & paste into an OE new message the first clipboard image gets
pasted fine but when a 2nd (new) image is again copied to the clipboard and
pasted again into OE the first image is pasted again instead of the 2nd
image

If I open a new message window the second image comes thro OK

but if you drag the 2nd image from the 2nd message to the first message the
image changes to the original one

No matter how many new images are put on the clipboard only the first image
appears in the message

???? any ideas anyone

PS I have several other comps and this problem does not occur

Any reason to put it into Word first? The clipboard only holds one at a
time. Put the images directly into OE. Like any other graphic, it is best to
save it to your HDD and then Insert it into the message. Do not copy and
paste.

Many thanks for your advice
The images in question were screen captures of an open window open on the
desktop
If you use the Alt+print Screen keyboard keying it copies the active window
to the clipboard
Then OE does not accept a paste from the clipboard directly - but if you
first paste into word then recopy the image in MSWord the new clipboard
contents are accepted by OE - been doing this for years
but as I said in this newsgroup posting - on one computer only - OE keeps
pasting the first image only even tho the clipboard is showing different
contents.

A long time ago, there was a bug in OE where multiple pictures are inserted,
only the first picture shows for ever picture.
Paste two pictures into OE and copy - paste the code into a post.

Patient (demonstrating): "Doctor, it hurts when I do this!"
Doctor: "Don't do that."

Don't do that (don't copy/paste a screenshot into Word and then copy/paste
the image into an OE message).

1. Open the screenshot in your photo-editing application (e.g., MS Paint;
PictureIt) and then Save it to, e.g., My Pictures folder.

2. No either Insert the saved file into an Outlook Express RichText/HTML
message or attach it to an OE message.

OE 6 pasting image from clipboard keeps pasting the first image only

on
Well here is the source code when 2 different images are pasted into a new
message
just bear in mind we have at least 6 computers and this problem only appears
in one comp - thats this one - that is only a year old and is uptodate I
believe re windows updates malware, viruses etc

As I said if you open a new message window the correct 2nd image comes
thro - but if you drag it back to the first message window the image reverts
to the first one - clever stuff eh !!!!!!

Robear
I appreciate your sound advice about not copy/paste into word and repasting
into OE
but (and there's always a but isn't there!!!!!)
firstly it was not me doing this on this occasion but a family relation -
allthough I have done this myself before without any problems and I would
say a fair
percentage of all comp users are also doing this somewhat often also

I can only explain how to use OE without encountering such problems.

When it comes to such a simple and buggy Mail Client like OE, it's best to
learn what the software *will* do rather than trying to make it do what you
*want* it to do or what you think it should be *able* to do.

Copy/pasting anything (e.g., graphics; HTML text) from Word into OE seldom
gives you the results you want. Such is life.
