quote #'s, sales order #'s, Invoice #'s

i'm using microsoft office accounting 2009.
is there a way to have the quote number, sales order, and invoice number
stay the same from start to finish of a job?
i know i cqan manually enter it on sales order and invoices, but that step
is sometimes forgotten then all the following numbers are off.
