The good folks at Halo have forged a new patch to correct
issues reported here and in the Bungie / Gearbox forums.
You can install the patch by clicking on a Multiplayer / Internet
*OR* if you cannot access that menu, you can install the patch
by doubleclicking on the haloupdate.exe in your Halo directory,
*OR* you can download the patch manually from this URL:
NOTE: If you are still playing Campaign and are not having problems,
DO NOT install the above patch until you finish the Campaigns.
The reason is that your old checkpoints will no longer be 100% compatible
due to the extensive changes made in this patch, so installing the patch will
set you back to the beginning of the level, instead of your latest checkpoint.
You'll probably find more Halo discussions at these Gearbox Forums:

| Dear readers... i am facing problems that most of you are
| facing...other than my video card melting and ect. the
| problems are from minor things you see... wether its your
| instant messaging programs to windows media player in the
| backround. to even a firewall... so turn em all off, and
| then try, if nothing else works... put the disc in and
| try to play off that... if there is a way to play off an
| outdated version... such as .02 try that. but i face a
| problem that i cant even get, a blue screen with
| thousands of words and it says its a critical error. in
| fact... i went to the source, and here is what i found...
| go here, it makes me laugh ever time...
| this helps none, everything is updated, no clue what to
| do... so i hope a microsoft representitive reads this and
| tells me something good...
