WSUS client error 0x80080008

Post by QWRhb » Tue, 06 Dec 2005 22:41:03

Has anyone got a clue what this error is all about? Cannot find anything on
the knowledgebase about this error. Also, in the log is this line:

2005-12-05 13:13:44 4968 7ac DtaStor WARNING: Update Service: Failed to
update backup store

I've tried re-registering qmgr.dll and qmgrprxy.dll and also cleared out the
C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download & \Datastore and this hasn't made
any difference.

Has anyone got any ideas how to resolve this error? The client in question
is 32-bit WinXP with SP2 already installed.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

WSUS client error 0x80080008

"Adam" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in message
news: XXXX@XXXXX.COM ...

I agree the CDT output is normal.

I don't recall, in my instructions, saying anything about running 'wuauclt
/detectnow'.

Looks to me like the cleint has never detected previously -- it certainly
has not installed the very first two required updates that are necessary for
WUA to detect/install any other updates.

And, it successfully reported.

Looks to me like the client is working perfectly .... now.

I also did not see any evidence of the subject error message in this normal
operation.

Don't worry about trying to diagnose every possible message written to the
WindowsUpdate.log. The real question is whether the client is successfully
detecting/downloading and installing updates. The first part of that answer
is YES, as evidenced by this log. The second part we'll know after the
scheduled installation occurs at 2am Wednesday morning.
