Installing WSUS with SQL 2000

I am trying to install WSUS on a Windows 2003 SP1 with SQL 2000 as the
database. I have been having problems in getting the error "Fail to
connect to SQL" when I have a version of SP4 running fine. Having read
some of the other notes on this matter is says to make sure that the
MASTER database is the default database of that user. It seems that is
the case, but I am not truely sure. I am using the administrator
account to set this up on a test machine, but I'm not sure how to check
if this user has the master database as the default. Any help in this
matter would be appreciated.

Also, I have noticed that I don't have sysdatabases and systables in
the MASTER database. Do I have to create them or is there something
that I am missing in this process?

Installing WSUS with SQL 2000

There have been observed issues installing WSUS onto SQL 2000 /SP4/ systems.

The RTM release of WSUS predates SQL 2000 SP4, so it was never built, nor
tested, for installation on Service Pack 4.

The best recommendation is to install WSUS on SQL 2000 SP3a, and then apply
SP4.
