MySQL Administrator Error

Post by A. Dischne » Thu, 05 Jul 2007 19:15:38

Hi,

tried to import a backup-file with MySQL Administrator on Linux (SuSE
SLES 9).

I get immediately.

Error Reading Backup File
File:/hdb/backup_mysql.sql
Error: Unknown object in backup file.

Reading via Apple OSX SQL Administrator is OK, but fails at the very end.

File size is 70 GB.

Any ideas?

Toni

This could be due to case sensitive table names.

My first guess would be wrongly cased foreign key clauses (a known MySQL
bug). Use grep to search on lines containing 'FOREIGN KEY' and check if
the table names in the REFERENCES clause have the correct case.

Another question (forgive me for being a real Linux newbie): does /hdb/
exist? I thought it was a device.

Best regards,

Hi Willem,

I did a: grep "FOREIGN KEY" backup.sql
without an occurence.

Yes. It may be misleading. /hdb is just a hardware raid-filesystem

thanks,

Toni

In Windows it tells me IIRC:

file was exported by mysqldump cannot import.

So it seems to be -not- possible to import a mysqldump file via MySQL
Administrator,

not so fast friend! isn't osx end of line and carriage return different
than win32 and linux. you may want to test with different eol and cr
when backing up. let us know how goes it.
