text > 65536 chars data type?

text > 65536 chars data type?

We have a table with few records which have a field of type "text".
Apparently this data type is limited to 65536 characters.

Would someone please suggest a different data type that will allow us to
include all necessary text that is generated for each record's field,
regardless of number of characters needed? The number of characters for the
field might vary between a few hundred and a few hundred thousand.
