I had to reinstall Windows on a system that had Dreamweaver MX 2004 and
Fireworks MX 2004. After installing Windows to a different folder (in order to
preserve the data on the drive I installed Windows to a new folder) I cannot
get Dreamweaver or Fireworks to launch. They seemed to install properly, but
when I try to run them, Dreamweaver never launches or indicates any activity
toward launching. Fireworks quickly flashes the splash screen then nothing else
happens. There is nothing in Task Manager to indicate that they are active
programs after I have attempted to launch them. I need to get these programs
running properly for my customer so that she can manage her organizations
websites. Thank you for your help.

If you use DW8 - Here's a step Adobe doesn't mention:

Go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Macromedia
\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration

Delete the file that starts with: WinFileCache-????????.dat

then try to restart DW.
