Vista loosing Tables ability

Vista loosing Tables ability

Post by TeaDrinke » Tue, 10 Apr 2007 09:48:35

Hi
I am using Dreamweaver MX
I have just purchased a new laptop (Dell) with Windows Vista.
When creating a Table I hit the 'Table' button and fill in the requirements.
Then when I click OK I get a windows warning of;

"A sharing violation occurred while accessing C:\users\AWH
Imaging\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\DreamweaverMX\Configuration\Objects\Common\Ta
ble.htm"

In Vista I can't even find this file as the folders stop at the C:\users\AWH
Imaging\ leval with general folders only availible

When this is OK'd you get a window with;

"Deamweaver encountered a fatal exception. Dreamweaver will now terminate."

When I try the button again (or from the drop down at top of window) nothing
happens - no window to put in the table requirements.
I have tried to reinstall Dreamweaver. Uninstalling > reinstalling. Both with
no change.
I completely reinstalled Windows Vista and the table window opened only to get
the same warning and issues when clicking OK.
Can anyone help with this as I can't see any way of fixing this.
Thanks
Andy

Me again
I have found the .htm file and deleted it. This allows the button to work
again but the same happens when hitting the OK button after changing the
settings.

HOWEVER, if the settings are left at the defaults of, Rows 3, Columns 3, Width
75%, Border 1 the table opens and is fully editable on the page. As soon as you
try another table with changed settings (from the default) it crashes again.

HEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!

Andy

Andy:

Which Vista are you using?

Have you looked on the Adobe site to see if there is a technote about this?
I don't recall seeing anyone here describe such a problem, though. And I do
not personally experience it with Vista Ultimate.

Curious. I am using Vista Ultimate and do not have this problem.

I suspect that it's not Microsoft that is sucking in this case.

Pablo, I've used Dells for years and was never dissatisfied. I got a good deal
on a Gateway when it was time for a new computer and have had problems with the
hardware (USB ports not working, etc). I'll probably go back to Dell for my
next computer.

As for the problems with Vista, you should have seen all of the posts from
early adopters who got Vista before CS3 came out. CS3 is the only version of DW
that fully supports Vista. Download the trial of CS3 and see if your problems
go away. If not, then there is something else you need to take care of. I
upgraded from MX2004 and couldn't be happier, especially since I hadn't
upgraded Photoshop or Illustrator for quite awhile either.

If you search topics using 'sharing violation' you will find another thread
running on this issue. I have Vista Home Premium and a Sony laptop and get the
same problem. I wuld think it's a compatibality issue between MX and Vista.

Come on Adobe - please find an answer. We've spent a lot of money on the
product ...

I think all will be well if you use the Insert Table button or menu item but DO NOT CHANGE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS! Just hit OK and then edit the table that is inserted on the page.

Adobe has answered with the compatibility chart. MX is not Vista
compatible. I'm sure you will not see a patch release for this 6-year-old
product version to change that.
