F12 preview function does not work

Post by montoya » Sat, 08 Nov 2003 07:11:34

I'm working on a Dreamweaver file located in a shared LAN directory. When I hit F12, I cannot view the live web page. But if I copy the same file in my hard drive, I can hit F12 and see the preview of the web page. Other users can preview the same file in the shared directory using F12. So the problem seems to be confined to my PC.

When I hit F12 to preview the file in the shared directory, the browser shows the URL to be http://localhost/filename.htm but if I'm previewing the file I've saved in my hard drive, the URL is
C:\Monitoring.htm. I've checked the Preview in Browser settings in both the shared directory files and the hard drive file and they're both the same.

Has anyone else had this problem?

montoyaf:

How is your testing site defined for this file? Do you *need* a testing
site (i.e., are you working with server scripted pages?

Also, are you aware of the inherent problems of having multiple developers
accessing the same local files on a network shared drive?

Thank you for your help. I checked the list of sites and deleted one that was for training purposes. This seems to have done the trick. Thanks again.
