You mean like having multiple scenes inside a movie clip??? Or just change the
scene of the main timeline?

If it's the first, create a seperate movie with the multiple scenes and then
load that movie into flash using loadMovie()....and to change scenes, use the
next little bit...

Change scene...
create new layer...call this labels. At the start of each scene you need to
jump to, add a key frame and label it "Scene1" or whatever you like...

then in the script where you want to change the scene...
target_path.gotoAndPlay("Scene1");
target_path should be replaced with the correct target path to the movie clip
or level that you need to change the scene of...

eXe if you have a Movie Clip on the stage and simply want that movie clip to
change the _root level movie's scene to scene 2, do exactly what I posted above
about how to change a scene.... From what you are saying, this would be what I
would do.

Why are scenes even included in Flash MX anymore? Never made sense to me. I
havent touched scenes in years. If its purely an organizational tool for use
during production only they should truly make it that, rather than providing
this quasi-functional tool which they turn around and advise you never to use.

just my .02 :)
