OS 9.1 Files won't open in OS 10.3

FH files created on my Mac iBook OS 9.1 won't open on my new OS 10.3 iBook.

The file is represented by a grey icon, not a FH10 icon. If I click on the
icon, the computer first says that no default application has been chosen. When
I choose FH 10 as the default application, I get an error message that says:
"An error occuring while changing the application that opens "test file" (the
name I gave a small 24 kb file to test opening) because not enough information
is available. Do you want to open "test file" with Freehand 10?" If I click
"Update," Freehand opens/launches but the file does not. If I click on the
still grey icon of the "updated" file, Freehands opens but the file still does
not. If I click "Don't update," I get an error message: The operation could
not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -10814)."

I can create and open new files without problems on my new OS 10.3 iBook. Any
Ideas?

Hey! I fixed it! I just put the ".fh10" at the end of the file name.

Two things you can try which I have found to work in some cases like this. One
is to add the appropriate file extension. If you're using Freehand 9 on the
iBook then add ".fh9" and the file might then open in Freehand when you
double-click it.

The other thing to try is to drag the file's icon to the Freehand icon in the
dock while holding down the option and Apple key.
