Hi Keith,

There are some 3rd party components that can do this. However, Autocad DWG
is a proprietary format, so results are not always guaranteed. Some shapes
might not be recognised/rendered properly.

Here's one, make sure it renders your dwg files properly before buying:

I'm also working on a DWG reader for my Pyro suite but it's not finished
yet.

You can also export the DWG files as DXF, for DXF there are more components
available.

Kind regards,

Nils

if you finish your dwg reader, do not forget to share your works with us.

in your reader, do you also use 3rd party components? or your write your own
component?

THanks in advance.

There is an active-x dll at www.opendwg.org that is a very complete dwg
reader/writer. It is free to members and non-commercial memberships are
free if you're willing to sign an agreement saying that you won't use their
code in applications that you sell.

Hi Keith,

The reader will be a commercial product. I have spent considerable time on
reverse-engineering the DWG format with some help from the OpenDWG website
(they have a DWG format description available).

The reader doesn't use any 3rd party components. You will be able to use it
to render to GDI, or render with higher quality with the Pyro lib (separate
product).

Price will probably be around $100 (including sources).

I might perhaps also create a DWG writer, but writing DWG files is even more
complicated.
