BCB2006 - Non-visual components area

Post by Martin Har » Wed, 18 Jan 2006 02:05:25

Hi:

I think I must have had dreamed that BDS2006 supporting a non-visual
component area in the C++Builder designer - much the same as Visual
Studio, so the components don't occupy the actual design area.

Did I just dream this or is there a setting I have not found that
supports this?

TIA,
MartinH.

"Data Modules" are your friend here!

But, I think the Delphi .NET visual designer works this way. Maybe that's
what you dreamt.

Roddy:

Yup, it seems like I dreamt it ;-)

While we are on the subject of Data Modules, is anyone else experiencing
bad painting at design time of the Data Module surface. If I drag a
dataset around the Data Module design area, the track that I have
dragged the component on doesn't get repainted :-(

Nothing serious but it would be nice to have things work as they were
designed to!

MartinH.

Yes, this is a known issue.
It was a problem in Delphi 2005, and now Builder shares a common data module
designer with Delphi, it now affects us!

Oh, and when you drag the component, does the caption get left behind?
Not serious as you say, just looks awful :-(
