handling disconnects in FB/IB two tier apps

handling disconnects in FB/IB two tier apps

Post by Eugene Gol » Tue, 20 Dec 2005 18:14:01

What is the good way to manage and recover from database disconnects
in two tier firebird/interbase applications? My access layer is IB
Objects...

Should i track EIB_ISCError exception and then start a timer to try to
reconnect every minute or so?

I tried to ask in IBO groups, but didnt get anything useful there.

Thanx.

2. Best book/article/tutorial on Exception Handling in multi tier Windows App

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could suggest me a book/article/tutorial on
Exception Handling in multi tier Windows Apps. What are the best
practices/ways to implement EH in multi tier enviroment. I read some MS
Best Practices articles on MSDN. It helped a little, but considering
how unexperienced programmer I am, I think I'd need a good sample code
and explanation I could follow to fully understand the issue.

Thanks in advance.
