Pass-thru Query to Oracle Out of Range error

Pass-thru Query to Oracle Out of Range error

Post by clm » Thu, 15 Jul 2004 02:00:28

I have a pass thru query in Access97 that is going out to
Oracle 8i data:

select Deal.YEAR_NAME ||'-'|| deal.DES_NAME as Series, Sum
(pool_dist.prin_sched_bal) as PrinSchedBal,
pool_dist.determ_date
from msplat.pool_dist, msplat.pool, msplat.deal
where pool_dist.pool_id = pool.pool_id
and deal.DEAL_SEQ_ID = pool.DEAL_SEQ_ID
GROUP BY Deal.YEAR_NAME ||'-'|| deal.DES_NAME,
POOL_DIST.DETERM_DATE
HAVING (determ_date between '01-May-2004' and '25-Jun-
2004')
ORDER BY Deal.YEAR_NAME ||'-'|| deal.DES_NAME, determ_date

I can run it fine in SQL but when I try to run it in
Access97 as a pass-thru query I get a message of:
1. ODBC call failed
2. [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle]Error in column
2: Numeric value out of range (#0)

Any ideas of how to get this error message to go away?

1. Make Table Query based on Pass-Thru Query

2. Why SAS SQL pass-thru to Oracle so slow?

say, compare to TOAD from Quest Software rr SAS won't return data.
How to improve SAS performance?
are there paraemters I can adjust? TIA

E.G.
proc sql;
connect to oracle as o ( path= drep .. );

create table fun as
select * from connection to o (
Oracle SQL stmts here );

Here's error msg:

ERROR: Error fetching from cursor. ORACLE error is ORA-00604: error
occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-06502: PL/SQL:
numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
