can't execute update query

Query A identifies a subset of admission episodes (鈥淎dmission Episode鈥? that
include patient discharges prior to 6/30/08 . Table AA includes a universe
of all admission episodes (鈥淚D Admissions Episode鈥?.

I want to create a second query, Query B, to update field 鈥淒ischarge b4 year
end鈥?in table AA. The field has a 鈥測es/no鈥?data type.

In update query B, I included table AA and query A. 鈥淚D Admissions Episode鈥?
from table AA is linked with 鈥淎dmission Episode鈥?from query A. The join is
join 1 (joined fields from both tables are equal).

鈥淚D Admission Episode鈥?and 鈥淒ischarge b4 year end鈥?are both included as
fields in the query. The criteria for 鈥淚D Admission Episode鈥?is [query
A]![Admission Episode]. The 鈥渦pdate to鈥?value for 鈥淒ischarge b4 year end is
鈥測es鈥?

When I attempt to execute query B, the following message is returned:
鈥渙peration must use an updateable query.鈥?
The values in query A are all unique, as are the ID Admissions Episode
values from table AA. The same error message resulted when I changed the
join property to option 2 or 3.

Any suggestions on what needs to change so that the query can be executed?

Thanks,

As you say that Table AA includes a universe
of all admission episodes; then I presume that QueryA is sourced on this
Table AA.

If so then you don't need QueryA in your UpdateQuery...you just need to put
in the criteria of the PatientDischargeDate field:
<6/30/08
