Saving a printer

Saving a printer

Post by Rober » Sat, 02 Oct 2004 07:15:17

I have an application where one report (and only this report) need to be
directed to a special printer, special tray.

I would like to save the printer (including the tray to use) after the first
printer selection by the user, so that the next time they run this report, I
can route the output to the right place with no operator intervention.

What data do I need to save? Does one save the whole object, some
properties, what?

TIA

1. Modifying any printer returns "Printer settings could not be saved..."

2. Printer settings could not be saved on port setup of printer

I am trying to create two printers on my Windows XP PC that use the same
port (a Netware 5.1 print queue) but use different drivers for the printer.
When I attempt to specify the port, I get "Printer settings could not be
saved. Operation could not be completed." I tried to create a local printer
with the second print driver I want to use for only some applications and
then change the port, but I get this error. How can I accomplish this so I
can print to the same network printer but with different print drivers?
