You cant reffer such way to a table, but you can reffer to a form' textbox:
=Forms!MyForm!projectid

to be gotten by query, where the value of the projectid in the query matches
the projectid field on the form. I tried putting =tblProject.projectid
(with brackets), in the projectid column of the query, but it just comes up
with ?NAME? type of thing.
username based on that project id.
but the link fields between the subform and the master form are the
projectid's. But, to display a few individual names (people responsible for
particular phases of the project), that will not be edited, don't need to be
multiple subforms, one for each name (right?).

Thanks for responding Alex

Do I put that reference, =Forms!... in my query criteria. I need to find the person, who is assigned to that project (that is on the form) by query

Project-->Phase-->Coder assigned to that phase
where the only criteria is which project id is on the form

Are you saying I can't pass the projectid to the query

Thanks, Michael

you can pass a value, or reference to form (as you say "projectid field on
the form.")
but you cant pass just table.field. table you can join to other table in a
query
