Using ME on a Sony Vaio pcvrx450. After using windows update to install
critical updates KB837009[OE 6 SP1] and KB828026[Windows media script
commands]which shows it installed correctly,I re scanned and updates
shows I need to install same updates.
So are these installed or not.How do I correct this?

Just a quick line until the experts join in. You did restart I take it?
If so, have a look that the Restore folder (hidden) isn't full. That's a
prime cause of updates not "taking" as I found out from this group when I had
a similar problem. If it seems to have a load of files in it and seems rather
large, and you will certainly get the help you need. They fixed it for me.

Really out of my depth now but (just in case others are reading and it may
help them). After installing the uopdates and restarting, does it come up
with the updating files message before windows starts (that one about
updating files and then continuing to load windows?).
I used to get told that it couldn't update and when next doing the Windows
update got told that it needed installing. (Restore folder problems).
haven't had the problem since deleting the restore folder and letting it
regenerate (and stopping the program that was filling it up).
If it said that it had finished updating then I am really out of ideas.I
think the bottom line is that if it says it needs updating, then it hasn't
"taken" but why, I don't know.
Sorry I can't help more.
