Issues with Expression Web - When's the update?

Post by ::CORY: » Wed, 19 Sep 2007 23:46:08

Issue 1:

No "Format Painter" tool. This tool was invaluable for a lot of things and
is gone in Expression Web.

Issue 2:

Typing a paragraph is auto-wrapped in a <p> tag. However when you highlight
one word in the paragraph to apply BOLD to it, the bold is applied to the
entire <p> tag, thus making the whole paragraph bold instead of just the
selected word.

Issue 3:

Not all CSS options for things are applied to an Inline tag, some are placed
Inline, some are placed on the "Internal" sheet in the <head>. There doesnt
seem to be any rhyme or reason to when which is done.

Issue 4:

Web cache is not checked often enough, nor are there any settings to specify
when the local web cached should be checked to see if it's correct. This is
especially a problem when working with a Frontpage Extensions-based site.

Issue 5: (CRASH)

On Vista, opening up a few pages with images on them, opening up the Image
Toolbar and attempting to draw a rectangular Hotspot crashes the program,
when connected to a website with Frontpage Extensions. I've experienced this
with Frontpage 2002, and then with Expression Web after I upgraded FP2002 to
it. I've also experienced this on a clean full install of Expression Web on
my Vista-laptop. This crash alone is making this program virtually unusable
for me.

Issue 6:

Tables no longer apply border styles to individual cells thru the table
settings dialog box. Multiple cell selection editting does not work either.
To set border info you have to do it per cell, which is difficult when you
are working with a table with a great number of cells. I know via CSS you
can do positionings instead of table work, but that shouldnt also reduce the
previous table functionality.

Has anyone heard when of if there is going to be a program update?

Doesn't happen to me, chide one make June the p element is not selected in
the Quick Tag bar. See: Submit feedback on
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Check your settings under Tools l Page Editor Options l CSS Tab

Make sure using meta data to mange the local site is turned on. Then
Recalculate Hyperlinks will appear in the Site I site Settings menu.

I never use hotspots but would try Steve Easton's cleaner since many crashes
are caused by corrupt caches. http://www.yqcomputer.com/

Use css:

table, td, th {border: 1px solid black; border-collapse: collapse;}

or select the table element from quick tag bar and from tag properties put
the measurement in for border.

At MIX they said a CTP for version be will be out before the end of the
year.

ere's the video of it failing to bold a single word.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB8nAwn4_Ic

You cant read it to well, but I'm sure you all know what you are looking at
in the settings and I think you can clearly see the issue happening.

If not I can find some free host to throw the full video up at somewhere.
I'll try to capture another video of the awesome constant crashing on
hotspot generation too after awhile.

::CORY::

I know you cant see it exactly

Issues with Expression Web - When's the update?

Post by SWRhaG9Bbm » Thu, 11 Oct 2007 04:09:04

I am having exactly the same problem. I looked for updates for Expressions
but MS says I have the latest version. How is it possible that it works for
some and not for others? Do you still have FrontPage installed on your
computer? I do. Maybe that's the problem. Have you found the answer yet?
Thanks, Ann

This might help somewhat
