Disable softkeys on Acer C300

How can I disable the tablet pc hotkeys (for screen orientation, scrolling
etc.) on my Acer C302? Or even better - how, if at all, can I disable the
keyboard equivalents of these function (like Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Down = rotate
screen) and still retain the functionality of the on-screen buttons?

You would need to look into the configurations in the Acer software. What
is the issue you're having?

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be easily available in the documentation
or in the Acer configuration apps (please prove me wrong). There are
obviously two different elements involved: the physical buttons alongside the
screen and the keyboard shortcuts, and I was told that these could only be
disabled together by fiddling with the Registry (but now how).

The main issue is that these keyboard shortcuts interfere with
non-configurable shortcuts in a business application I use, so when e.g. I
press Ctrl+Alt+Right Arrow in this application to carry out a specific
function, the screen orientation changes instead. There are workarounds, but
I am so used to my shortcuts that I would really appreciate any tips on how I
can go on using them!

I don't have the model Tablet PC you have, you it might be worth checking
the user's guide from Acer, if you don't have the book:
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

You should be able to program the Tablet Buttons in Control Panel/Tablet and
Pen Settings, on the Tablet Buttons tab, including to "none" for the action.

The issue you are having is not with the Acer shortcuts but the Intel video
driver software. This is a common problem with an easy fix--no registry
fiddling needed.

Leave the hardware button settings alone (they are very handy) and go to
Control Panels > Intel Extreme Graphics...

If you don't have that control panel you can get there via Control Panels >
Display > Settings (tab) > Advanced (Button) > Intel Extreme Graphics (Tab)
> Graphic properties (button). Whew!

Go to the Hotkeys Tab and uncheck Enable Hotkeys.

This setting may not be available if you have older Intel drivers. I have an
Acer 111 and have had great luck with the latest Intel video drivers. Much
better performance and control than the ones Acer officially supports. They
are use at your own risk however.

Thanks a lot! Finally a solution to this annoyance .... Wish Acer/Intel had
chosen to make this info better available.
