<snipped virus>

Please note NO ONE is responsible for posting this, it was generated by
the worm itself.

True, but not complete. The posting originated on an infected machine, and
sooner or later someone is going to have to disinfect that machine or
disconnect it from the 'net.

How did you know it didn't originate on the news server itself?

I am not clear on what you mean by "BOT." Are you saying that the posting
did not originate from a computer? As far as I can tell, and I have only
looked at a few messages, all or most of them have originating IP address
information in the header. Whatever is at that IP address needs to be
stopped...

Be well.

You really are out of touch, aren't you Oh Thick One.

A 'Bot' is short for robot - like those little robot dogs that Sony makes.

You see, millions of infected Aibo robotic dogs are deluging the 'Net with
infected emails.

Perhaps if Sony had opted for the PS/2 operating system instead of Windows
XP this wouldn't have happended. On the other hand, the PS/2 Aibos kept
killing everybody with multi chambered atomic blaster weapons, so that
wasn't good either.

Next year it will be the Linux Aibo - an excellent well behaved Aibo but
with discernable disregard for anything Microsoft - keyboards and mice
bearing the Microsoft logo have been found soaked in a most disagreeable
manner - and I don't even want to say what was found on an XP Pro Install
CD that had been left on the floor.

Best regards,

Brian
Linux Mystic
open sorcerer

Bot-- Simply put..
- software is the cause instead of a person/user physically passing it
along.

Yes I realize that, but it is stopped by someone taking physical action
against the affected machine, such as removing or disabling said software.
I stated that "The posting originated on an infected machine," and "Altmel"
implied that this is not true. The relevant statements are included below
if you care to dispute their meanings. Perhaps we could also get into a
discussion of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin while we are at
it.

I am still waiting for a statement from "Altmel" on how it is that the virus
messages are not sent from infected machines...

I never claimed they didn't originate from infected machines, just that
they may originate from the news server itself.
