I would like to know another thing here....

for installation of Dev Env m following these steps like:

1. create a copy of the Prod env Application\Standard folder.
2. Will Install the 2 Tier Client, provide link of d application folder &
using this i will create a new database for d same.
3. Will install the AOS.

other then these steps wat should i need to take care of?

already a 3 tier client is installed on the server......which is linked to
the Application\Sandard folder of the Prod Server.

Hello

One question: where will You install dev environment?

1. The same hardware?

2. Different machine/laptop?

IF 1:

1. Copy Standard folder to the same parent folder but different name ex:
Development

2. 2T or 3T is only way of configuration Ax client is the same.

3. Backup prod database and restore it with different name.

4. Create a new Ax client 2T configuration selecting (according to AOS
configuration) development application and development database.

5. Run Ax client

IF 2:

1. Copy all Ax application folder (2 levels up from Standard) folder to the
new location on new machine

2. Copy all Ax client files and folders (1 level up from bin) to a new
location on new machine

3. Backup prod database and restore it with different name on new machines
server.

4. Create a new Ax client 2T configuration (axConfig.exe inside client bin
folder) setting application folder, selecting development application and
setting development database.

5. Run Ax client

If You want an empty database simply create one and setup for Ax client (but
license codes needed and configuration). Simple way is to backup and restore
production database and empty non system tables:
Administration->Periodic->SQL Administration, click "+" on All Tables entry,
select all entries for tables (from Address to Zipcode) excpt last one
"Microsoft Axapta System Tables" and then click TableActions->Truncate
(NEVER do this on PROD env because Truncate function deletes all records
from tables no matter what company belongs to). Unfortunately it is more
complicated not to delete parameterization.

Best Regards
