FS 2004 crashes

Post by Pete » Sat, 17 Apr 2004 23:33:06

Hey, I installed FS 2004 on my computer. I installed it
and everything. You start the game and it works fine but
when I change my view to anything but the *** pit view,
my game freezes, then gives me a black screen. After that
a pop up come up and gives me this message:
"Microsoft Windows defected and recovered from a device
failure. Please save your work and reboot to restore full
funtionality."
Can anyone help me so I can fly again? Thanks.

Pete

P.S. The game worked fine on my PC before. Also I
installed Direct X9 and do a Windows Update when ever I i
get a update, so i have the latest updates and drivers my
computer uses, i think.

Hi "Peter" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >! On Fri, 16 Apr 2004 07:33:06

As it worked before you need to find what change is affecting FS, roll
back any updates or add-ons until you find the culprit. Run dxdiag.exe
and go through all the tests, are they successful? Also errors when
changing views are often caused by the sound card drivers, which one
is it? Try to lower the sound acceleration with dxdiag...

Take a look in your Event Log. You might find what crashed. Might be a video card driver error.
What are your system specs including video card and driver version? Have you added any RAM recently?

Which sound card is it? Lower it all the way and test if FS crashes
again or not. If not go up one notch at a time until the problem shows
up again and lower it again to a stable setting.
