FSX is stuttering after upgrading the Grafic card

Post by Wolfix » Sun, 10 Jan 2010 22:05:32

Hello guys,

Recently I replaced my Geforce GTS 8800 (under which FSX was running fine)
with a GTS 275 and FSX is stuttering a lot with SP2 installed.
If I reinstall FSX without SP1 or SP2 the game is running fine.

Does anyone have had this issue and have any idea how this can be sorted?
I tried playing around with all the settings in FSX but the game would still
stutter in 800x600 and low details mode.

I am using the newest Nvidia drivers and the game was running fine with the
slower 8800 in 1680x1050 with high details.

I have absolutely no clue and would be happy for any help.

Thanks,
Wolfgang

What's your framerate set at? I have a GTX 260 Core 216, and it
has issues with the FPS set at unlimited. Not too bad at 30 FPS.
Also, try it with just SP1. It's SP2 that seems to have some
issues with high end nVidia cards. Have you had autogen
spikes with SP2?

You haven't said what CPU you have. The 2xx series GPUs
seem to work best with i7 CPUs.

It doesn't make a big difference if a set a target frame rate or not.
Without SP2 I have about 25-35 fps in 1680x1050 and with SP2 I have about
8-15 fps in 800x600 (or lower if I increase the resolution) and must of the
configuration options I turned off or too low.

CPU: Intel E6850 Dual Core @ 3 GHZ
GPU: GTX 275

Did you delete or reset FSX config file when you replaced your video
card? Otherwise it will reference both cards and that will cause
problems...

Yes I did but it doesn't help.
The funny thing is that if I turn on the Direct X 10 Preview Mode the
stuttering is gone and the performance is fine.
Unfortunately I didn't mange the get VSync on with the Direct X 10 Preview
Mode and the taxi lines are flickering a lot.
