Lost Strokes?

Hi Everyone, I just installed the Sept. CTP and my personal strokes
folder is gone. :/ Is it wiped out by the new install?

Generally, those are retained in the previous version resource folders.

Did you look in the hidden resource folders?

You may need to move you previous resources to the Sept folders.

The old folder in Program files was retained but the folder contents
are gone including the resource folder. I find the resource folder
installed by Sept. CPD but my strokes are not in there. I was hoping
they might have been moved someplace else. Tough luck

I think the mantra on updates between CTPs runs a bit like "Must
remember to back up personal strokes/gradients/colour
schemes/brushes/fringes/ ... "

But! not is all lost.

Gradients and fringes can be recovered from XPR files (I keep a file
full of gradients as these are difficult to backup).

If you do have some XPR files with your favourites strokes you may be
able to recover those dirrectly once the XPR file is opened in EGD.

Jeff,

Strokes aren't stored in the Program Files folder. The September CTP
location is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Expression\Graphic Designer September 2006 CTP\Strokes Look
in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Expression\ for strokes stored in earlier CTPs.

Hope this works for you.

Anytime you think you have "lost" any file, do a "search" in windows or MAC
from C:/ drive if needed...search for .xpr etc. and you can make the search
smaller by using dates such as "newer than xx/xx/xx"

To find strokes, you would need to use advanced options since they are in
hidden folders.

The *.xbm files would be that way, also.

There is a shortcut to the hidden folders, and I access them that way.
