Localhost Location

I had been searching all around but had been unable to find
any information, maybe someone here knows something......

When you install install ISS ( 5.1 - Windows XP )
the locahost is always on your c: drive.

I have 3 Hard Drivers / Partitions, can the "localhost" be set
to be on any other harddrive but C: ?

Thanks

Localhost Location

Hi,

There are two concepts here that you are confusing

"Localhost" is a DNS name. It is defined in your HOSTS file
(c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc) and it points the name "localhost" to
127.0.0.1 (your local machine). You can edit the HOSTS file to point the
hostname "Localhost" to any arbitrary IP address

When you connect to http://localhost, by default you are connecting to your
local IIS server (but you can make it any other server if you want - see
above). The default website created by IIS has its content served from
c:\inetpub\wwwroot. You can edit that if you want - just use IIS Manager to
change the root location of the default website.

Cheers
Ken
