IIS Sending HUGE amounts of data

IIS Sending HUGE amounts of data

Post by mike.mathe » Fri, 14 Jan 2005 05:08:17

I have a server and when the IIS service is running the network
bandwidth goes through the roof. I've used to network monitor to
determine that the bandwidth is being used sending data. I don't know
why this is happening.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, or could recommend some
steps to debug?

Thanks

Hello,

Maybe the IIS server is infected with some viruses?

I tired running Mcafee Antivirus and Addaware to check for spy ware, but
nothing came up.

I would suggest installing MS Network monitor in this server and read all the
packets going out from this server. It might tell you what is going on within
the server. You can also install filemon and regmon (can be downloaded for
free from http://www.yqcomputer.com/ ). This will give you more details as to
what is happening withing the server.

Look in the logs for attacks.

Do you have all the patches on the OS. Certainly sounds like your
getting attempted attacks.
