Bernard,

Here's the outcome of the command:

***********************************************************
C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts>Cscript adsutil.vbs enum
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved.

KeyType : (STRING) "IIsComputer"
MaxBandwidth : (INTEGER) -1
[/IISADMIN]
[/Logging]
[/W3SVC]
[/MimeMap]
[/SmtpSvc]
[/EventManager]
***********************************************************
Hugh! It does enumerate successfully. What next?

Wow. so the metabase looks fine.
I'm not sure why you still get this error msgs.

Do you see any 'Red error stop' site in any of the folder
or site icons ?

If you create a new MMC, as stated in this kb, do you
get this problem ?

i,

This was my approach, when I got the problem first.

-> Checked, if W3SVC was running
-> Checked, if the machine name wasn't changed by accident
-> Created a new MMC, added the IIS snap in (Didn't work)
-> Rebooted the machine, looked at the all the above again.
-> Searched the net, for the similar problems:
There was a solution posted on a site:
The solution was to try to IIS, using "connect to" from the MMC. i.e
Open a new mmc from the run,
right click on "Console root", add the machine name as "localhost".
But that did not work either.

When it says error connecting to Machine_name, where does the snap-in look
for the machine_name?
Looks like somewhere there is a change in the machine name? But I haven't
changed the name at all.

The good part is that, the site works fine. I can still access the site
using IE.

Well, I've no idea already. it could be MMC issue.
If you try to remote admin from other hosts do you get
this error ?
