LAN's & OE6

Post by Paul » Tue, 24 Feb 2004 06:22:28

I have recently networked my wife's new laptop as client,
to my PC as host. Both have Outlook Express 6.

If emails are downloaded via the PC, none can be viewed
or edited from the laptop & vice vera.

She would like to arrange message rules which send emails
with her identity to the laptop, only when she is using
it. Or can they only be manually forwarded?

Any thoughts to my email at
paul("at" sign)hepworth77.freeserve.co.uk
replacing the "at sign" by @.

With thanks.

You can have all users/PCs download all message from a POP3 mail server by selecting
Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced, Leave a copy of messages on the server in all
users/PCs. One or more of the users/PCs should be set to delete messages from the server
after a few days or else the server mail account will eventually fill. However, Sent
messages will only be saved on the sending user/PC.

In article <1488801c3f989$f9319d80$ XXXX@XXXXX.COM >,
XXXX@XXXXX.COM says...

I like my Mercury Mail IMAP server. Set it up on the host, and set each
email client for a local IMAP account. You need not expose port 143 to the
Internet; configure Mercury Mail to only use the LAN adapter. You might find
the POP3 Distributing Client useful, as well, if you have multiple POP3
email accounts. You need not run any of the SMTP services.
