WiFi connect before login to windows

Post by TWlrZSBNaW » Tue, 20 Feb 2007 23:06:13

Here is my situation. I am currently running windows 2000 server with AD. Our
wireless is PEAP MSchapv2. What i need to have happen is the wireless
connects to the network so that a user can be authenticated when they log
into the workstation. Is there anyway that this can be done? I have done alot
of research lately and found that most of what everyone is saying is to use a
CA to authenticate the machine. Unfortunetly our Radius server is not setup
for Certs. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

If your client machines are registered in Active Directory you can also use
machine authentication with PEAP. There is no need for client certificates.

You could take a look at the MS Wifi FAQ, section "Wireless Authentication
with 802.1X"
