Media Player on Vista Ultimate once closed will not re-open!

Doesn't look like there is anyone offering help on this page. A lot of
questions without response. Why the HELL do I have to pay for technical
support for a piece of *** product. I seriously doubt I am doing anything
wrong. EVERY time I close the media player and then later try to open it, it
will not re-open. No matter how I try. I have to restart the friggin PC in
order to open it up. How come I never hear Mac people complaining? No
wonder people are switching to Apple products! My brother works for
Microsoft so I want to be supportive but this is getting ridiculous!

If you paid for technical support on the
microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player , I would be interested in knowing how
that could have happened as this isn't to my knowledge a "support" forum--

I would bet that the player is still running in the Processes tab of Task
Manager. Are you using SP1 on this system?

The player is likely not reopening as it is currently still open. This is
usually because you would have some bad driver that is blowing up (shutting
down) while telling the player to stay open, and thus resulting in a
potential zombie player. SP1 is much much better about handling this.

Zach,
Thanks for your response. I wasn't saying that I paid to post what I wrote,
but it does look that way, but TRYING to say that I was posting here because
it's the only thing one can do other THAN pay for technical support. The
help site states that I would have to pay like $50 or something for them to
tell me why their product isn't working, which seems crazy to me.

As for your analysis: so when it won't open, should I close it via the task
manager and then try to re-open it? Do you have any idea as to why media
player isn't assigning the cover art to my ripped cd's? I search, find the
correct album, and then the directions say to click "finish" but then nothing
happens. That is driving me nuts too. Thank.

You could certainly do that and I would suspect it would work.

You did not answer why you aren't running SP1: are you running SP1 or not?
I would expect SP1 to have better performance in this circumstance.

What folders are monitored according to the menu WMP shows when you press
"F3"?
