how many publish point i can make? i wannt know limit?

Hi Kim,

Seems like you are running out of memory on the machine itself.

Is there any specific scenario that you plan to implement with ten million
publishing points? The reason I ask is to find out if it is possible to do
this in a more efficient way instead of creating 10 million publishing
points.

Thx,
Ravi

just use one publishing point for all users?

the filename could be different for each of your viewers

for example:

mms://asdf.asf.net/pubpointname/file1.wmv
mms://asdf.asf.net/pubpointname/file2.wmv

The server allocates RAM for each publishing point so creating 10 million
would require about 64KB (probable RAM per publishing point) * 10,000,000
(amount of publishing points) ~= 640GB RAM !!!!!

If you can afford that much memory, can you buy me a beer for answering your
question :-) only joking!

Andy

Hi I have a problem.
With script:

I do create a lot of streaming points, this is just a
short example.

1, "M:\pointname"
1, "M:\pointname1"
1, "M:\pointname2"
1, "M:\pointname3"
1, "M:\pointname4"
1, "M:\pointname5"
1, "M:\pointname6"
1, "M:\pointname7"
.
.
.
.
.
1, "M:\PointName6000000"

repeat about 600000

but server was down ..
server said, the virtual memory needed..

I do create a lot of streaming points, this is just a
short example.

i need over 10,000,000 publish point per server..is it possible?
if it doesn't, does anybody have idea?

now i have solution to service customer.

the service is base on Web progressive architecture...

i mean, it's similar with web download file system..
(i can directly input the url, like " http://www.yqcomputer.com/ " embedded
html.)

but, there are some problem with security or somthing what we can't
expected..

so, i wanna change Web Based system to Media service Based system.

the media size is very small( about 5M byte max. 10M per videoFile.)

does it proper to service with media server?

the scenario, what i wannt do

1. user(client) make media file(about 5M, max 10M) - number of user is up to
ten million
2. upload media server

[old step]
in html linked like " http://www.yqcomputer.com/ "
and i wannt change to like "mms://asdf.asf.net/pubpointname"
so i made some COM object with WMservice SDK.

therefore follows 3,4 step added.

3. in asp page... MTS custome component(i made..already, named
"VideoMTSObject")
4. in server side, the videoMTSObject make the publish point and linking
like "mms://asdf.asf.net/pubpointname" in html
5. after all, anonymouse user can see the upladed media file...at normal
html page...

the number of client is get up to about ten million,
they are going to make their video file, and wanna service
to their friends or customers...

can you understand? what i wannt...
my English is very poor..so, i don't know you can understand exactly

and if it is not proper such a case, have you any idea?

thanks.

rights.

Hi Kim,

Andy's suggestion on having just one publishing point but giving different
filenames to different users is probably what you need. This should work
unless there is something in this scenario that you don't like.

Otherwise, you might want to have more than one server and then split your
users somehow and point them to different servers where you would store
content.

Hope this helps.

Thx,
Ravi
