Whenever I have media player 10 check for updates, it starts to update to
media player 11, it doesn't even ask if I want the update.

This can easily be sorted. Simply Click on tools>>options then you will see
at the top of the first tab about automatic updates untick the check box
saying download codecs automatically and the media player shouldn't update
automatically.

I never have "automatic" checked. The proplem is when I "check for player
update updates" form the help tab, it shows a Media Player 10 update is
available, tells me the download size etc and please click next.....Problem
it downloads not an update to 10 but downloads Media Player 11.
I check for player updates frequently, and have never seen this behavior.
Normally it will tell me that I have the most recent version of 10....

The current player *is* v11. So if you Check For Updates, it will take you
to v11.

Check for Updates will no longer return the v10 player. It points to v11
now.

Thanks, it would be helpful if the download window indicated the update...

thanks for the help...looking at other posts, it seems you have real
expertise, although I have not had any major issues.
