Should animation effects be inputted in the order shown on task pa

One PowerPoint teacher told me that I should input the effects (entrance,
emphasis, exits, motion paths for the same object IN THE ORDER LISTED on the
custom animation task pane. I don't mind doing this if I am inputting them
in the same pass.
I asked: If I input emphasis today and if I want to input entrance the next
day, does it mean that I have to delete emphasis first and then input
entrance and emphasis so that I am doing it in the order listed?
Answer: No, you can enter emphasis today and entrance tomorrow. You can do
a reorder. There is a reason why Microsoft arranged the effects in such a
way and it is logical to enter them in order.

Can someone shed some light on this please. In my opinion, I should input
(or reorder) the effects in the order that I want them to be presented when I
run the show. I don't see any problem inputting "exit" before "entrance" IF
that is really the order I want when I run the slide show.

I am at a loss about what was being told. Please help!

You can always add an emphasis effect before an entrance effect, or even an
exit before the entrance if that is the effect you want. There is no
particularly order. It's just arranged in a logical way. But that doesn't
mean you must follow the order given. Motion path is below exit. So you are
telling me to add an exit effect before I can add a motion path? ;-)
